On My Reading Wishlist|Top Ten Tuesday

Hosted by the lovelies over at The Broke and the Bookish! I love their amazing ideas and seeing how many people participate each week!

Today's Top Ten Seven is:

1. Cyberpunk/Gamescape
I live the idea of a high-tech, futuristic world that is similar to Tron. I've read books that revolve around video games, such as Ready Player One. However, that isn't what exactly I'm looking for. Tron is the best example that I can think of at the moment.

2. Victorian/Steampunk
I love the Victorian era, but I wish there were young adult novels based there.

3. Medieval/Renaissance that does not revolve around the next heir to the throne's struggle.
It is very hard to find a young adult book that does not have this storyline. This is very popular today, especially with strong female leads. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for that. But does one character have to be royalty?

4. More books similar to Jackaby
I love Doctor Who and Sherlock. To find a book that contains elements of both really soothes my soul.

5. Historical Western Setting/Pioneers- both fictional and nonfictional
A lot of today's historical young adult books are set in Victorian England, where struggling princes and princesses reside. Right now, that plot setting is way overused. I have yet to find a book with a young adult book with a Western background.

6. Alternative Universe
Not parallel. Alternative. Where things are obscure and strange to the outsiders instead of backward or mirrored.

7. Diversity
Enough said.

If you've read any books that you think might fit into my wishlist above, feel free to let me know down in the comments!

What's on your wishlish?

  1. Great list! I don't think I've read any books with what you're looking for. But I would definitely be interested in reading a book based on a historical western setting.
