The Last Olympian By Rick Riordan|Review

The Last Olympian (Percy Jackson and the Olympians #5)
Published by Disney Hyperion Books on May 5th, 2009
Genre: Middle-Grades Fantasy
Pages: 381
Format: Paperback

All year the half-bloods have been preparing for battle against the Titans, knowing the odds of victory are grim. Kronos's army is stronger than ever, and with every god and half-blood he recruits, the evil Titan's power only grows. While the Olympians struggle to contain the rampaging monster Typhon, Kronos begins his advance on New York City, where Mount Olympus stands virtually unguarded. Now it's up to Percy Jackson and an army of young demigods to stop the Lord of Time. In this momentous final book in the New York Times best-selling Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, the long-awaited prophecy surrounding Percy's sixteenth birthday unfolds. And as the battle for Western civilization rages on the streets of Manhattan, Percy faces a terrifying suspicion that he may be fighting against his own fate.

My Thoughts

A fantastic conclusion to a brilliant series! Or is it? There are plenty of subtle hints and foreshadowings that indicate this will not be the last we see of Percy and Annabeth. The Last Olympian definitely provides you with a whole new meaning of friendship, suspense, and sarcasm. Feeling a little bittersweet, I am proud to have endured this journey and grateful to see how many friends came out of it. It is a shame that all good things must come to an end. Fortunately, there are a few more books following this series. I shall hold of my moment of mourning until then.
The series as a whole is fantastic. There is never a dull moment with the great characters Riordan has created. Vastly different and thoroughly complex, the character development was superb. I loved every word!
Foreshadowing. Foreshadowing. And more foreshadowing. Gleeson Hedge! I nearly jumped out of my seat when I read that name! If you are a new reader and have no idea what I am talking about, just wait until you've read the Heroes of Olympus series.
I'm going now before I start to cry!

Re-Read Challenge

A huge thanks to Kelly over at Belle of the Literati for hosting this challenge!

When I First Read: Shortly after finishing The Battle of the Labyrinth.

What I Remember: May Castellan muttering Luke's future. Luke kills himself. Percy is offered immortality. Rachel becomes the new Oracle. Percy's birthday is August 18th.

Why I Wanted to Re-Read: I couldn't just re-read all of the other books and skip over this one.

How I Felt After Re-Reading: Bittersweet

Would I Re-Read Again? Of course!

The Passion of Dolssa|Waiting on Wednesday

A HUGE thanks to Jill at Breaking the Spine for hosting an incredible meme. It is fantastic that everyone can communicate and enjoy these posts by creating their own and sharing others.

The Passion of Dolssa hits the shelves April 12th, 2016.

"I must write this account, and when I have finished, I will burn it.

Buried deep within the archives of a convent in medieval France is an untold story of love, loss, and wonder and the two girls at the heart of it all.

Dolssa is an upper-crust city girl with a secret lover and an uncanny gift. Branded a heretic, she’s on the run from the friar who condemned her mother to death by fire, and wants Dolssa executed, too.

Botille is a matchmaker and a tavern-keeper, struggling to keep herself and her sisters on the right side of the law in their seaside town of Bajas.

When their lives collide by a dark riverside, Botille rescues a dying Dolssa and conceals her in the tavern, where an unlikely friendship blooms. Aided by her sisters and Symo, her surly but loyal neighbor, Botille nurses Dolssa back to health and hides her from her pursuers. But all of Botille’s tricks, tales, and cleverness can’t protect them forever, and when the full wrath of the Church bears down upon Bajas, Dolssa’s passion and Botille’s good intentions could destroy the entire village.

From the author of the award-winning All the Truth That’s in Me comes a spellbinding thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the final page and make you wonder if miracles really are possible."
